Ally and Nate matched on Hinge when Ally was on a business trip in New York City for 2 days in February 2025. Unfortunately, by the time they matched, Ally was already back home in central New Jersey. But after a few hours of Shrek related banter, they immediately hit it off and even a multiple hour trip on New Jersey transit didn't seem like an obstacle. So they planned their first date for the next day… and actually sent each other the same restaurant idea at the same time. After each taking a multiple hour trip, they met in the middle, at Pascal & Sabine, in Asbury Park NJ. The connection was immediate and they were so engrossed in conversation that they didn't even notice when the restaurant closed, until they were politely asked to leave when the staff turned off the lights nearly an hour after closing. Undeterred, they stayed in the lobby for three more hours neither wanting the date to end. Eventually, they were forced to vacate the lobby as well, but not before they planned their second date in the city. Nate took an uber home to the city, with only a brief stop at the gas station before the Holland tunnel when his uber driver refused to take him any farther, apparently a 100 mile uber across state lines is a big ask at 3 am. They met for their second date at Pearl Box in Soho and picked up right where they left off, as was tradition at this point, their second date ran a bit long, but after 36 hours, Ally realized she should probably go home and pack for the month long trip around Asia she was leaving for the next day.

They both lamented having to wait so long for their third date, but before leaving, Ally coyly suggested that they just have their third date in the Philippines. To Ally's gleeful surprise, Nate responded "Are you serious? Because if so, I would absolutely do that." So after a few FaceTime planning sessions and about 22 hours of travel, Nate landed in Manila for their third date, to be greeted by a tackle from Ally hiding behind a bush. Which Nate responded to that by asking Ally to be his girlfriend. So, they spent the week together traveling around the islands of the Philippines and Vietnam. Nate flew back home, and they called each other every day until Ally came home too. They decided they would do ‘medium-distance’ for a while between NYC and NJ… but that only lasted a week before Nate bought Ally a dresser, shoe rack and shower shelf for his apartment. Ally asked Nate after they stayed together for a week, how long should she stay, which Nate responded "As long as you want." Which seemed crazy, but they were inseparable, and when you know, you really know. They moved into their new home in Williamsburg together that June. Come September, 2025 After a night out, Nate and Ally came home, and Nate got down on one knee in their apartment and proposed with a costume jewelry ring. They designed the real engagement ring that Nate proposed again with on Valentine’s Day, 2026. And here we are!
